Janak Joshi was born and raised in Bombay, India and graduated from Bentley’s MBA program in 2001.
A longtime entrepreneur in the Boston area, his first start-up, Synestesi Technologies (Exit to Spry Media Group in Sweden), was launched at Bentley University. Since then, he was the founding team at Generation Health (Exit to CVS Caremark, 2012) and most recently, the founding team at Life Image (Exit to Intelerad Corp, 2022). Life Image is now the largest healthcare exchange in the US and provider of novel data representing 3500+ hospitals and 100M patients managed on the network annually across.
Janak continues to be the CTO and Head of Strategy, leading Life Images’ technology architecture, data operations, security governance and corporate strategy.
Janak served as an advisor to Walmart’s senior leadership to launch Walmart Health, the country’s largest primary care initiative.
Janak chaired the medical imaging workgroup at CommonWell, U’S’s largest healthcare data sharing network, from 2018-2020 for U.S. and European vendors.
Prior to Life Image, Janak led strategy at Deloitte’s Life Sciences and Healthcare practice across U.S. and Europe. His focus was to establish a common information exchange and evidence management framework to help mature the quality and consistency of insights and outcomes for drug development.
Janak has held various leadership positions, most notably at Siemens Healthcare which was positioned for a $4B+ acquisition by Cerner Corp in 2014.
On the venture cap side of the industry, Janak was a Principal at Federal Street Capital, Brook Ventures and Progress Partners leading early & growth equity investments, for digital health, biotech and TMT deals leading 5 deals. He continues to serve as an advisor to Mass General Brigham Hospital, MassVentures and other venture funded start-ups in the Boston area.
Janak enjoys EDM music, martial arts and traveling across the globe. His favorite place to visit is in Dingle, Ireland.
